sending peaches a postcard

Just last Thursday someone  asked me about Peaches  my pet rooster. i said he is  fine. now i have not seen him since that morning and still he is missing.  wild dogs? poacher? old age?  last year for an art exchange  with the theme " for the birds"  i drew and painted and quilted and beaded  a postcard depicting his handsome likeness. it is so odd not to have him walking along side me at feeding time  and muttering his chicken speak . five years and some is time to get to know a pet.

Oh, dear. I hope Peaches is just out partying somewhere....We lost one of our adorable pasture cats the other day -- he was found by the side of the road. Not sure what happened to him but he was most loveable and definitely will be missed. I'll be thinking good thoughts for Peaches' return. What's the life expectancy for a rooster?

Kathy and Linda,
no sign of Peaches. one week and no sighting of him or sounds in the woods below our bluff. i had a dream the other night while i lay sleeping.. and were his tail feathers grew out was now an empty cup,a white round cup.
thank you guys for asking about him.
it is a mystery still. we love our fur and feathered family members so they do leave footprints on the heart.

thanks for the comment artgirl.
at least we had Paris ...i mean 5 good years of walking side by side a feeding time. like my escort in feathers. originally he was rescued from a cat's mouth , gifted to me, and the rest as they say is chicken history.... once ,by mistake,i made a video of him instead of taking a picture so besides the postcards i do have the sounds and wobbly walk recorded. .....happy Easter is what the roosters say (crow)i have always thought...

Another loss, so sorry. I have had plenty of bird friends too, last one I lost was 18 year old Mr. Mel, my peacock. Every time I glimpse some blue in the yard I think for an instant it is him. You must be experiencing similar moments. Sorry.

thank you Jan for leaving kind comments on my animals of late and loss. everything goes. that your Mr Mel lasted 18 years is amazing and he will always be just out of site but not of your heart. animals teach us much and no words used.i have a gray mare in the pasture of my heart sharing the fastest 24 years of my life spent with Lily and some of the sweetest . be well.
