 merry holidays to all!
this little arrangement came to be
after a walk around the yard,
with colors of the season
another reason, to share them  now with you!

December remember

So ,  remembering  that i had been making stars blocks of red, green and off white  fabrics randomly and stashing them in an empty valentine chocolate box during the past year,  i finally put them together and  she is now under the darning foot of my Bernina 830 record and almost finished.  The strawberry fabric you see is the backing as this is not a Christmas quilt, i did not use any Xmas fabrics, just pulled  R/G/W fabrics from my collection accumulated decades ago. Am  almost to the hand stitching the binding. part, the home stretch, and then to make a label, then she will be done . This quilt is about 54 inches square and was a bit of a wrangle under the domestic and well aged Bernina, Bernie. i do have one a bit older and she is  known as Bernadette. i name my cats, my cars,  currently Ruby Ruby, and  sewing machines that i have become fond of. My oldest singer featherweight 221 is  known as Peppy Dora" as my mom gave it to me long ago. Oh and i always sew barefooted.

cursor blues

i have some problems with computer/ mouse and tech stuff, this last week perhaps the problem is me. can't say so i walk away and try again.  and again, devices are not on my list of fun things to deal with. i would rather be painting or walking or eating a ripe avocado. the mouse jumps about and sticks and is making me sad.  then i updated drivers? and keeping my fingers crossed that will help .i can walk with fingers crossed but not type  or paint so i will  take a much needed walk.

where does the time go?

So if you had all the time in the world to do what you love, in my case that would be  painting fabric and turning my hand painted fabrics into something that was not here before, touchable before. what would you do?. And this the last year has been as such a time, Did you use it well? i did not. i fell into that camp of people that were sort of frozen. it all started  with viewing  you tubes on how to make cloth face covering masks until i was completely numb. i have a lot of fabric to tinker with but i was not inspired . i  experimented . i found pony tail elastics hurt my ears as i  could not get my hands on  that soft, thin elastic that was a limited as toilet paper at the beginning of the Covid 19 season. there is a difference in stocking up and hoarding

i managed to bake a bit when i was able to find flour at grocery store. That accounted for some yummy things and the extra pounds i carry around still.

i found i was often not inspired, often tired and well just sorta lazy.  so many options were limited or curtailed  and   then there was.... " i look at the floor and see it needs sweeping..."

reading and caching up on the 3 magazines i still subscribe to and falling asleep in the big red leather chair while doing so.

Finally i started with the old tee shirts my DH had all stacked up. i found  the sleeves made good covering and the 1 1/2 inch ripped strips were comfortable on my ears. and  i could paint them any color i wished!

this  one is my favorite so far and it washes up fine after a wearing to the food store .
It hangs from my rearview mirror between stops reminding me of the years, well decades gone by, when we hung our graduation  cap tassels from just such a mirror.

                                                            so

to new year 2021, please be kind

ideas for the new year 2021

when out, be kind to those you meet,
hold the door for someone younger or older than yourself.

arrange food in a harmonious way and eat the art.

or make soup if it is chilly outside

chop up a bunch of veggies

and use up those small bowls of delicious planned overs before

you  have  to give them to the chickens.

Then make a mocktail of ginger ale and cranberry juice, garnish with orange slice.

be kind, stay well and don't forget to dance when you get a notion!
